Insurance

You must have your own hire insurance. Rollout is a marketplace that connects plant owners with hirers. We do not insure machines, operators, or third parties, and we do not include cover on a hire.

Owners and hirers arrange their own insurance before listing or hiring. This page summarises that position. The Terms & Conditions prevail if anything here differs.

Rollout's position

Rollout is not the insurer on any hire and accepts no liability for loss, damage, or injury arising from the hire, operation, or transport of a machine.

Users need their own cover before listing or hiring. Some standard plant policies exclude hire-out to third parties — check with your insurer.

For owners

To list a machine, upload a current certificate of currency. Your policy needs to cover hiring that machine out. Owners are responsible for holding:

  • Plant and equipment insurance covering the machine while on hire
  • Public liability insurance
  • Confirmation from their insurer that the policy covers hire-out to third parties

For hirers

Hirers are responsible for:

  • Any damage to the machine during the hire period, beyond fair wear and tear
  • Public liability arising from the hirer's use of the machine
  • Ensuring any site they operate the machine on has appropriate insurance

Review the listing, inclusions, and the owner's requirements before you request a booking. You are only charged after the owner accepts.

Transport

Transport partners hold their own Goods in Transit insurance. Damage during transport should be reported to Rollout immediately. Claims for transport damage are handled through the transport partner's insurance. Rollout coordinates that process and does not insure the float.

Damage and disputes

If a machine is returned damaged beyond fair wear and tear, the owner should photograph the damage, tell the hirer in Rollout messages, and email support@rollout.net.au within 48 hours of the return date.

Damage, dispute, and liability rules are in the Terms & Conditions.
