Civil Construction Equipment Hire in Australia: Complete Platform Guide
Rollout is Australia's peer-to-peer civil construction equipment hire marketplace. We focus exclusively on the machines that build, shape and move — not general tool hire or lifting equipment, but the earthmoving and civil construction plant that Australian contractors, developers, farmers and owner-operators actually need.
This guide covers the full range of equipment available to hire on Rollout, with links to individual machine type guides for more detail.
All machine types on Rollout
Excavators
The workhorse of the civil industry. Available from 1-tonne mini excavators through to large 30-tonne+ machines. Compatible with a huge range of attachments — buckets, hammers, augers, tiltrotators, rippers, grading beams and more.
Posi tracks (compact track loaders)
Versatile, rubber-tracked compact machines with universal quick-attach hitches. Ideal for material movement, site clearing, and confined site work where ground pressure is a concern.
Motor graders
Precision grading machines for roads, pavements, platforms and haul roads. Available in small rural road class through to large infrastructure machines. Many fitted with GPS grade control.
Rollers and compaction equipment
Smooth drum, padfoot, and multi-tyred rollers for achieving density in fill, subgrade and asphalt work. Also walk-behind plate compactors and trench rollers for confined areas.
Tip trucks
Road-registered tipper trucks for spoil removal, aggregate delivery and material haulage. Single axle through to tri-axle configurations. Water carts also listed in this category.
Articulated dump trucks (ADTs)
Off-road bulk haulage machines for large civil earthworks and mine sites. 25–45 tonne payload class. Six-wheel drive with articulated frame for excellent performance in soft ground conditions.
Dozers
Tracked pushing and stripping machines for bulk earthworks, land clearing and rock ripping. D4/D5 class through to large D9 machines. Many fitted with GPS grade control.
Wheel loaders
High-cycle loading machines for quarry, batch plant, stockpile and aggregate handling operations. Small 1m³ bucket machines through to large 4m³+ loaders for high-production environments.
Tractors
Agricultural and civil tractors for slashing, post-hole drilling, grading, spreading, and towing. Many fitted with front-end loaders and PTO drives for a wide range of implement compatibility.
Attachments
A wide range of excavator and machine attachments available to hire independently — buckets (GP, rock, trenching), rippers, hammers, augers, tiltrotators, mulching heads, compaction wheels, pallet forks and more.
What Rollout doesn't list
To keep quality high and focused, Rollout does not currently list:
- Operated hire (machines with operators) — dry hire only
- Lifting equipment (cranes, EWPs, telehandlers)
- Concrete equipment (pumps, agitators)
- Scaffolding and access
- Power generation (generators, compressors)
- General hand tools and small equipment
If you're looking for these, traditional equipment hire companies or labour-hire platforms may be better suited.
How listings work on Rollout
Every listing on Rollout is created by the machine owner. Listings include:
- Photos — multiple photos showing current condition of the machine
- Specifications — make, model, year, operating hours, key specs
- Daily and weekly rates — set by the owner
- Availability calendar — showing dates when the machine is and isn't available for hire
- Float transport — whether the owner offers float delivery, or whether the hirer must arrange their own
- Owner profile and reviews — verified owner information and ratings from previous hirers
Hiring with confidence
Secure payments: All transactions processed through Stripe — your payment is held until the hire commences, giving you protection if something falls through.
Verified owners: Machine owners are verified through the platform before listing equipment.
Reviews and ratings: After every completed hire, both parties leave reviews. This two-way accountability is how Rollout maintains quality and trust across the platform.
Dispute support: If something goes wrong — a machine doesn't match its listing, a damage dispute arises — Rollout's support team is available to assist.
